party with the ponies

last night tracy jo, wendy, heather, greg, and audrey went with us to the sam houston race track for a "party with the ponies" night. despite all of us placing our bets using the best-name method, tracy jo was the only big winner with a $14.60 payout on a $2 quinella. with horses such as texi gogo girl, ib your huckleberry, daddy's magic rocket, and crimson rojo diablo we thought we couldn't go wrong. can you believe those horses didn't come in? the world of racing is obviously falling apart.

we did rather enjoy the ac/dc cover band bonsfire who played lackluster sets in between the races. audrey did a lot of spectacular dancing and we all took turns in gallop races with her, wendy playing the perpetual finish line. the fix was in with those races as audrey swept the night, but what are you going to do?

at one point, another little girl came up to audrey, tilted her head slightly, and said simply, "let's play." and they took off immediately in comfortable play of their own. it is my wish that we could all grow into adulthood without loosing that openness and lightness that allows children to play so easily with complete strangers. oh well.

That AC/DC cover band practices right behind the house where The Magic Bullets often practice. Also, they have a Flash intensive website.

it's my experience with adults
that even if you can convince someone to play,
the next hurdle to overcome is
"what do you want to do?"
"i dunno. what do you want to do?"
"i dunno. what's going on?"
"i dunno."
so it would seem that we need not only openness and lightness but also the creativity and imagination of children.
